Dried Flowers & Pampas Grass FAQ

How long do dried flowers and pampas grass last?

Provided they’re handled with care (and kept away from little hands and paws) our natural dried flowers and grasses can last happily for 2+ years, and without the need for water, food or anything else, they’re extremely low maintenance. Coloured dried flowers and pampas grasses (both natural and dyed) will fade slightly over time, but this can be reduced by keeping them out of direct sunlight.

My pampas grass has arrived a little compressed, how can I help it fluff out?

In order to protect our dried flowers and grasses from damage in transit, we wrap and pack them snugly, which means they may look a little flatter than expected when they’re first unwrapped, but do not despair! Give the stems a gentle shake outside, as some of the seeds will naturally shed when you do this, and pop your pampas grass in a sunny spot for a couple of days and they’ll relax and fluff out. Do be mindful that coloured grasses may fade slightly if left in direct sunlight for too long.

How can I stop dried pampas grass from shedding seeds?

It’s completely natural for some of our dried flowers and pampas grasses to shed their seeds, and isn’t something to worry about as the natural level of shedding will not affect the overall appearance of the grass or flower. However, our pampas grass stems can be sprayed with a soft hold hairspray to reduce shedding if desired.

Spray a small amount at a time from a distance of at least 15cm over the fluffy part of the stem, give it a gentle shake, and apply more if desired. This should be done after the grass has had time to fluff out in the sun (see previous FAQ), otherwise it’ll remain held in its compressed shape from transit!

Be do be mindful that if you apply thickly, or use lots of layers, it will change the texture of the grass and may affect the visual appearance, which cannot be undone, so we do recommend being very cautious with application. This method will not entirely stop the seeds shedding but will significantly reduce it, and once popped in a vase or container in its new home your pampas grass will likely be disturbed less frequently and therefore shed very little.

Copper FAQ

Do you use real copper?

We do! Anywhere we reference ‘copper’ as a feature or in the name or description of our handcrafted products, it means 100% real copper pipe and/or fixings are used to make it.

Will the copper tarnish?

One of the unique features of our copper clothing rails, candle holders and home accessories is that they’re coated with a thin but hard wearing lacquer to ensure the copper retains its rose gold colour and bright, luxurious shine. While we can’t guarantee that the copper will not change tone slightly over time, particularly if in a heavy-use environment where the lacquer may become scratched or otherwise worn away, our protective lacquer is incredibly affective and provided they’re treated with care, our copper products should retain their luxurious high-shine finish for years and years to come. If you prefer the tarnished look and are interested in our designs do let us know as we can offer our rails coating free for a more rustic appearance.
