Meet our Studio Manager - River Jade - Little Deer

After Christmas here at Little Deer we not only became a Limited Company but we also opened a new workshop. Just round the corner from our shop/studio this workshop is where we construct our own brand furniture, freeing up the current studio space for laptop work.
This change has been a great development for Little Deer and has meant we are able to take on more bespoke and bulk orders for our copper furniture.

Upon moving into the new workshop we also took on River Jade – our new studio Manager. River stood out to us as a professional individual who is clearly passionate about crafting and creating. Just last summer River got married and made all the decorations for the reception herself.

River is still learning the ropes at the moment but together with Little Deer owner Jade, it’s river who makes all your copper furniture orders.
River moved to Brighton for university 8 years ago now and has stayed here ever since! We asked her what it is she loves about Little Deer:

I like the support the company gives to small businesses and up & coming designers. Little deer is an arts community as well as a shopping platform.

River is currently in the process of leaning how to make all of our copper Furniture, with over half the collection already under her belt, she is leaning fast. It’s River’s job to make sure you get your quality made products within the shortest lead time possible. We asked River which of the Little Deer designs is her favourite:

The piece I really love is the Classic Rail. It’s an absolute timeless piece. Elegant, practical and beautiful.

The workshop a little on the cold side at the moment as it is part of a huge industrial warehouse so a good soundtrack is an absolute must while making away and trying to keep warm! We asked River what she’s been listing to:

Favourite music to listen to whilst I’m beavering away is defiantly the new Bonobo Album, my fav track is Kerela. Also, Childish Gambino, specifically Redbone. I’m
The sort of person to have a song on repeat so I’ve probably listened to it about 1000 times but I love it!
